Septic Line Cleaning for Country Homes and Cabins

When a country home or cabin backs up, the tank isn't always the problem. Often it's the pipe between the house and the tank, or the line running out to the drain field. Straight Flush Sewer clears those lines with cable machines, hydro jetting, and a sewer camera, 24 hours a day, around Peshtigo, Marinette, Menominee, and the rural towns nearby.

We do not pump septic tanks.

Tank pumping is a separate trade. If your tank is full or due for its regular pumping, call a licensed septic pumper. We handle the pipes, and we're happy to work alongside your pumper when a line is part of the problem.

Clogged house-to-tank lines (inlet)

The inlet line carries everything from the house to the tank, and it's where most rural backups start. Grease, wipes, and "flushable" products snag on joints or settle in low spots. Older clay or cast iron laterals pick up roots, and a line can settle over the years and hold water. Common signs:

We open the line from a cleanout, clear the blockage, and flush it so it actually runs, instead of punching a small hole that clogs again next month.

Outlet lines and lines to the drain field

On the other side of the tank, the outlet line carries liquid out to the drain field. When solids get past a worn or missing baffle, or roots find a joint, that line can plug and back water up into the tank. Where there's access, we hydro jet outlet and distribution lines to clear sludge, biomat buildup in the pipe, and roots. If the camera shows the drain field itself has failed, we'll say so plainly. That's work for a septic installer, and jetting won't fix it.

Camera inspection and locating

Lots of rural lines were never mapped. A sewer camera shows us what's inside the pipe: roots, a sag, a broken joint, or a crushed section from a vehicle driving over the yard. Our locator then marks the line and its depth from the surface, which helps if you're planning a repair, finding a buried cleanout, or telling a pumper or installer where to dig.

Frozen septic lines in winter

Shallow laterals, lines under driveways with no snow cover, and seasonal cabins that sit empty all freeze in a hard Northeast Wisconsin and U.P. winter. A slow drip left running or a line that was already partly clogged makes it worse. We thaw and clear frozen inlet and outlet lines. More on that on our frozen drains page. Please don't pour chemicals or antifreeze down a septic system; they can harm the tank's bacteria.

Septic line FAQ

Do you pump septic tanks?

No. Straight Flush Sewer does not pump tanks. Pumping is a separate trade with its own trucks and licensing. If your tank is full or due for service, call a licensed septic pumper. We clear the pipes going to and from the tank.

How do I know if it's the line or the tank?

If the tank was pumped recently and drains still back up, the problem is usually the inlet line between the house and the tank. Water at the lowest drain first, gurgling, or a cleanout that's full are all signs of a blocked line. A camera inspection settles it.

Can you work on the line out to the drain field?

Yes. We can jet and camera the outlet line and accessible distribution lines when there are cleanouts or access points. If the drain field itself has failed, that's a job for a septic installer, and we'll tell you that honestly.

Do you come out to cabins and rural properties?

Yes. We regularly work around Peshtigo, Marinette, Crivitz, Lakewood, Oconto, Stephenson, and Menominee, MI, plus other towns within about 90 minutes of Peshtigo.

Are you available at night or on weekends?

We're open 24 hours. Call (715) 732-0909 any time and Jason will tell you when he can get there.
